We are proud and extremely happy to win a “gold medal” at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (https://www.iwsc.net/news/spirits/2020-spirits-judging-the-verdict) for our Koare 3. This 100% grain genever obtained 96 out of 100 points and received glowing comments from the judging panel:
"A deeply engaging nose of ripe pineapple and tropical fruits, with rounded vanilla oak spice and hints of apple. Complexity on the palate, delivering multiple layers with elegance and precision. A beautiful balanced journey, showcasing the exceptional cask characteristics".
This is what we had envisioned when we started our distillery in 2017: making tasteful products with artisanal processes. The Koare 3 is an excellent example of this. This genever is distilled of 100% grain (65% barley and 35% rye) and it has matured in a sherry cask for several months.
We are extremely happy with this professional recognition. We see it as encouragement to continue on our path and to strive for high value and tasteful products. As you know, Mwórveld distillery does not cater to the masses, but strives to produce carefully crafted, slowly ripened and therefore refined products. At this moment prunes are being picked for this year’s Splendeur; and we are distilling a number of products for third parties.
We can conclude that after the first months of corona impact, we are now busier than ever.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank our Founding Funders for enabling our artisanal enterprise. Onwards to the release of our first whiskey on 25 April 2021!
